## In summary

- Generate diagrams with AI from a text description
- Write the process as if you were telling a colleague, and FlowBoard draws it on the board: each box with its shape, labeled arrows, and everything arranged in layers, ready to edit.

## Generate diagrams with AI from a text description

From a sentence to a whole diagram: you describe the process in natural language —up to 4,000 characters— and receive up to 25 already connected nodes, without touching the shape bar.

Shapes with meaning, not all the same boxes: diamond for decisions, terminator for start and end, cylinder for storage, parallelogram for inputs and outputs, document, hexagon, circle, and predefined process.

Calculated layer placement, not random: nodes are distributed along the longest path from the roots, with a centroid pass that reduces arrow crossings and 110 px between layers and 70 px between siblings.

Truly anchored arrows: each end hooks to an element with right-angle tracing, so you move a box and the arrow follows; the labels 'Yes' and 'No' come already written.

Loops don't misalign the drawing: back edges are detected with a depth-first traversal and exit from the side, so a retry or a backward turn doesn't crush the layers.

Arrives selected and framed: the diagram is inserted next to what you already had without overlapping it, the canvas zooms in on it, and a Ctrl+Z undoes the entire insertion if it doesn't work for you.

In your language: the AI writes labels in the language of your account, the same one you use for the app, without going through English.

An editable draft, not a closed image: what appears are normal FlowBoard elements and connectors, with shape change, automatic reorganization, and export to PNG, SVG, PDF, JSON, and Mermaid.

Open a board, go to the 'AI Assistant' menu and stay on the 'Diagram' tab. Write in the text box what you want to see, with as much detail as you want and up to 4,000 characters —for example 'customer onboarding process with document validation and approval'— and press 'Generate diagram'. In a few seconds the diagram appears drawn on the board, already selected and framed on screen, with the boxes placed in layers and the arrows connected. You don't have to write or see code: the AI returns the diagram in Mermaid syntax and FlowBoard converts it into board elements for you.

How do I generate a diagram with AI from text in FlowBoard?

Flowcharts: processes, procedures, decision trees, approval flows, simple architectures, and anything counted as chained steps with branches. Each generation supports up to 25 nodes and FlowBoard interprets ten different shapes (rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle, decision diamond, hexagon, parallelogram, document, cylinder, predefined process, and terminator) and six types of links (arrow, simple line, dotted, thick, bidirectional, and circle ending), with labels on the arrows. What it doesn't generate are diagrams with groupings like 'subgraph', manually fixed coordinates, or specific color styles: color and theme are applied later from the board.

What type of diagrams can the AI generate?

Yes, and that's the intended use: what is inserted is not an image or a closed block, but normal FlowBoard elements and connectors. You can move and resize each box, rewrite its text, convert a rectangle into a diamond while keeping the text and arrows it already had, change a connector's tracing to straight or curved, bend it with waypoints, edit labels, and apply 'Reorganize Automatically' to reposition everything in layers when you've touched it too much. If the result doesn't work for you, a Ctrl+Z undoes the entire insertion, and when it's ready, you export it to PNG, SVG, PDF, JSON, or Mermaid.

Can I edit the diagram that the AI made afterward?

No: each generation creates a new diagram and places it to the right of whatever was already on the board, without overlapping or altering it. If you want to start from your current diagram, the way is different: 'Reorganize Automatically' rearranges the elements you already have in layers, and the other two tabs of the AI Assistant work on the content of the board —one summarizes what is written in it and the other groups sticky notes by topic, creating a frame by group—. You can also generate a diagram, keep the boxes that work for you, and delete the rest.

Does the AI modify the diagram I already have on the board?

The labels are in the language of your account, the same one you see the app in: FlowBoard is available in Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and German, and the language instruction travels with the request, so a diagram generated in Portuguese arrives in Portuguese. Each generation consumes tokens from your AIsToHire account balance, just like the other AI functions, and the app will notify you if the balance is insufficient before drawing anything. The board where it is inserted supports up to 1,500 elements and 1,500 connectors, with auto-save and version history.

What language are the labels in and how much does each generation consume?

FlowBoard is the infinite whiteboard with diagrams from AIsToHire, and AI generation is its shortest shortcut. Instead of dragging shapes one by one, you open the 'AI Assistant' menu, stay on the 'Diagram' tab, and write what you want to see: 'customer onboarding process with document validation and approval.' You can fit up to 4,000 characters, so you can paste the entire procedure instead of summarizing it. The AI responds with a diagram in Mermaid syntax, and you don't see that code: FlowBoard interprets it and paints it as real elements on the board, up to 25 nodes per generation.
The translation respects the semantics of the diagram. The interpreter recognizes ten types of nodes —rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle, decision diamond, hexagon, input/output parallelogram, document, storage cylinder, predefined process, and start/end terminator—and six types of links: simple arrow, line without tip, dotted, thick, bidirectional, and circle ending. The labels on the arrows ('Yes', 'No', the condition) come written, just like the chains of the type A→B→C and the branches to multiple destinations. What is not drawing —styles, classes, comments— is silently discarded instead of breaking the import.
Where the work shows is in the placement, which is what usually ends up cluttered in other generators. FlowBoard distributes the nodes in layers along the longest path from the roots, detects cycles with a depth-first traversal so that a retry loop doesn't crush the drawing, performs a centroid pass to minimize the number of crossed arrows, and leaves 110 px between layers and 70 px between siblings; the width of each box adapts to its text up to a maximum of 320 px. The arrows are not loose lines on the canvas: each end is anchored to a specific element —exit below, entry above, and from the side when the edge comes back— with right-angle tracing, so as soon as you move a box, the arrow follows it.
The diagram appears to the right of whatever was already on the board, without overlapping it, arrives selected, and the canvas frames itself around it; if you're not convinced, Ctrl+Z and it's gone. From there, it's a normal FlowBoard diagram: change the shape of a box while keeping its text and arrows, rewrite labels, switch the tracing to straight or curved, bend the line wherever you want, apply 'Reorganize Automatically', and export to PNG, SVG, PDF, JSON, or Mermaid, with autosave and version history in the background. The AI writes in the language of your account and consumes tokens from your balance, and it's good to know what it doesn't do: it draws a new diagram each time, it doesn't rewrite the one you already have on screen.
